How Do You Prevent Sabotage

Monday, April 28th, 2008

By Josue Cano Have you ever gone on a diet and decided to lose weight and get in shape? Maybe you went forward with your goal and started eating healthier and working out. Your first couple of days you were feeling good about yourself. You feel proud and maintain your current rhythm. Then, comes weekends where you go out with friends and hangout at places you know you are easily tempted by the choices on the menu. Before you know it, you sabotage. You start asking yourself…why? ‘Why can’t I be disciplined?’ ‘Why did I just eat that junk food?’ When you ask yourself those questions your brain will come up with an answer. Usually the answer is you don’t have will power. Or you don’t have motivation. You then rationalize yourself that you messed up and that you just didn’t have the will power to follow through on your goals. Your self-esteem goes down and you’re not as motivated to pursue your goals. Eventually, you’ll lose all motivation to continue forward and quit. What can we learn and improve on following situation. I’ll tell you. What we do know is this; when you ask yourself a question your brain will respond by giving you an answer. We also know that asking ourselves why is useless. Asking yourself ‘why’ is the most useless thing that you can do!!! So don’t do it. Instead, ask yourself a more empowering question that is going to really help you and not make you feel worse. One of the most powerful questions you can ask yourself is how. Asking yourself, “How can I overcome this situation? How can I stay focused so I don’ lose motivation?” Ask how. I am reminded of a situation where I was in a stressful situation where I was with a large group of friends from church and we all went out to eat. We went to a pizza place and all I knew is that I didn’t want to feel the guilty feelings by sabotaging my goals. I didn’t want to experience the consequences of weight gain by participating with my friends. What did I do? I asked myself how. I said, “How can I overcome this?” So I made an active choice to not eat pizza with them. And also, I didn’t judge my friends for doing so. Did I want to eat pizza? Absolutely. Did I eat pizza? Nope. But the stress of wanting to eat pizza was very tempting. To experience the pleasure of eating that cheesy, greasy pizza was very apparent. In all, I didn’t sabotage. After everyone was done eating pizza my sister shared with me that she felt guilty after eating pizza. I was the only one who didn’t participate with them eating pizza. How did I feel afterward? Did I feel like I missed out? I felt so good about myself for keeping my goals and I didn’t feel like I missed out. Actually, I had gained a notch on my scale of self-esteem. And I felt proud of myself for being able to overcome such a stressful situation. How? By asking how. “Cap” Josue Cano B.A. C.S.C.S., is a specialized strength and boxing trainer working 1-on-1 with clients who just authored the book: Don’t wait get in S.H.A.P.E.: drop body fat fast and get fit quick. Orchids Versus the Traditional Rose

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

By Anne Clarke Orchids spark more emotion in more people than perhaps any other flower. Yes, many of us might hold roses as the most emotion-inducing flowers. After all, roses are the flower most associated with romance in our culture. But in truth, most would consider an orchid to be a much more romantic gift. Who would not choose an exotic and wild orchid (and often rather expensive orchid) over a typical backyard rose? There is much more of a culture behind orchids. There are so many people that are extremely passionate about orchids whether these people collect and grow phalaenopsis orchids, cymbidium orchids, and dendrobium orchids in their homes, whether they travel around the world taking photos of wild orchids, or whether they spend years of their lives trying to find the perfect hybrid to make a truly black orchid some people are just crazy about orchids and pursuing them is their life goal! Of course, you do not have to be absolutely crazy about orchid plants just to love them. Perhaps you have just one orchid flower that you love and care for dearly. Or, perhaps you love and care for that orchid flower a little too dearly, and you end up over-fertilizing it or over-watering it. And, of course, such actions will surely lead to the demise of your beloved orchid plant! Orchid care can be rather tricky, and sometimes, it seems, only seasoned orchid growers can master proper orchid care. In truth, though, there are quite a few species of orchids that practically anyone could grow it is just a matter of providing the right growing conditions and the right orchid care. Even if you are not growing an orchid plant of your own, you can surely appreciate the beauty of any orchids that you might see in photographs or in another persons home. There is just something hypnotic and tantalizing about orchids. Again, there are likely some of us who prefer roses to orchids, but perhaps this is simply because roses are more common roses are everywhere and people have not yet had enough exposure to the beauty of orchid flowers. Indeed, although there is much more of an orchid-culture than a rose-culture, it seems that references to roses appear in our overall culture much more often. Just take a look at poetry! Take a look at tattoos, even! Nonetheless, the love of orchids is a love that will burn brightly in a culture for as long as orchids still exist. There are so many different orchids out there in the world, it is practically impossible to not fall in love with at least one species, or type. After all, there are dendrobium orchids, Thai orchids, white orchids, blue orchids, phalaenopsis orchids, cymbidium orchids, and so many more! Writing The SAT As An Intel

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

By Devin Yeo If you’re an international college applicant, you are probably unfamiliar with the format of the SAT exam. The SAT is normally required for all applicants at most schools. Internationals are required to write the SAT as well as Americans. However, colleges do understand that international students may not be familiar with the SAT (with the exception of internationals studying in American schools abroad) and thus may not do as well as their American counterparts. This is especially true for applicants whose native language is not English. Do colleges give some leniency to international students with regard to the SAT? The answer depends on which college is in question. Some colleges may have a policy whereby if an international applicant scores 2000 or higher, then SATs are out of the way. Many others have no clear policies though. At highly selective institutions, the difference in weightage for Americans and internationals may be small. In my opinion, even as an international, you should strive to do as well as you can on the SAT. Therere many books that are dedicated to SAT preparation on the market; just browse the shelves of any well-stocked bookstore. College Board itself has produced several excellent preparation materials that you should use as your preparation materials. If you can afford it, you can even join one of the many prep courses available. Why is it important? First of all, international students with high critical reading scores have considerable advantages (hook) over other international applicants. As there will be many internationals who willl probably not have scores in the high 700s in the critical reading section, scoring well earns you some advantage over the others. It shows your willingness to learn something totally new to you. Besides, some universities such as Northwestern and Virginia will waive the TOEFL requirement if your criticial reading score is above a certain threshold, as an acknowledgment of your English proficiency. Therefore, doing well on the SAT can only work in your favor. Devin is a high school graduate who has 2 years experience in college admissions. He runs a website at http://www.admissions-guide.info dedicated to help college applicant in the admissions process. While the World is on Fire

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

By Anthony Smith Revelation 8:8-8:9 What will you be doing? How many people have asked the question, what will you be doing at the end of the world? When I was a child, in the hills of Kentucky, I always asked my self this same question every-night before I went to sleep. I remembered the preachers sermon, the Hell fire and brimstone was still in my mind. I would take my time after everyone went to sleep and look out the window at the sky above. For a little kid I thought that everything was so large and big. I looked at the sky and told myself, The world was a clear blue sky with puffy white clouds when it ended. I didn’t know much about scripture then, so I didn’t Know that, when the world ended it would be on fire. Children are so innocent and trusting, I guess that the reason Jesus said that we had to become as a child to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Is there really an end of time? Is the Bible really true, is there really a devil or a God, what about a judgment? What do you tell them? This is what I answer. What will you be doing while the world is on fire? Part 1. Lets look at the Book of Revelations for a moment, some say its, the revelation of John, but its actually the revelation to John from Jesus by Gods Angel Rev1:1. Rev 8:7, The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth, and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. Now some parts of the scripture use the allegory of trees and grass to signify men, but not here, remember that. When this takes place, What will you be doing? Going to the nearest church to ask God to forgive you, running to the fire station, crying out that your house is on fire, Screaming that you cant find your Baby, or children or maby a husband or wife who were a christian, running to the fall out shelter? What will you be doing while the world is on fire? Will you be falling on your knees asking Jesus to help you or will you curse the God of Heaven, for the plague that has just hit the earth? Ill tell you. All the above, and more. The pain the smoke the agony, screaming to find refuge a place to run and hide, searching for family and friends, a terrible time a time you wished you had avoided. God is supream, He’s the everlasting to everlasting, The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, our God. There is a savior, there is a redeemer, there is a deliver. There is Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Is Hell real?, you can bet your soul, there is. There was a man dyeing, that my family knew real well, he had not been the type of person that most people would want around them. A drunkard, a beater of women, user of every foul language, his marriage ended in divorce, his own son didn’t want anything to do with him. He had been minister to many times, he had heard the word preached and still he refused the calling of the Holy ghost to repent. On his death bed, my brother-in law was speaking to him about Jesus and just before he died he said, I’ve had my chance, I’ve turned Jesus down one too many times. I can feel the heat on my feet, My legs are on fire. And just as he took his last breath he screamed, I can see Hell, and he died. What will you be doing while the world is on fire? Revelations 8:9, And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea, and the third part of the sea became blood. 8:9 , And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea and had life, died, and a third part of the ships were destroyed. Where are you going to run, where are you going to hide? Where is there, a place of safety or a shelter from an angry God? The United States has the greatest Navy in the world, second to none, they are going to be destroyed, in a heart beat, in a flash of fire. Gone. Blood shall fill the ocean, fish and men will die, their great battle cruisers, air craft carriers, submarines, will be destroyed, blood and fire mingled with smoke, where will you be? You say, it cant happen, it a fairy tail. Look at history, look at Psalms, 78:43, How He had wrought His signs in Egypt, and His wonders in the field of Zoan. And had turned their rivers, into blood, and their floods, that they could not drink. 78:49, He cast upon them the fierceness of His anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending them evil angels among them. Don’t say that it wont happen , don’t say that it cant happen, say when. These are all part of the trumpet judgments in Revelations, this action takes place after the rapture, the church wont be here. And if you think that the anti-christ will take care of you, your right, he will. If you refuse his mark, 666 you will be killed and if you take it God will destroy you. Its your decision, if you will not harden your heart, today is the day of salvation. Make today the day you give your heart to Jesus, don’t let another day slip by and let some one else ask you, What will you be doing, When the world is on fire? end of part 1. Tips On How To Prepare For A Job Interview And Get The Job You Want

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

By Tim Lee Getting a swift move on your job interview is the most important step you could ever make in your entire career. Passing a job interview is the primary requirement in order to get the job. Job interviews provide the applicant the opportunities to prove himself worthy for the job. Here, he can either sell himself or impress his potential employer. For this reason, it is extremely important to plan your job interviews and get the job that you want. Here are some tips on how to prepare for a job interview: 1. Do your homework Most applicants think that job interviews do not require any research or inquiries. What they do not know is that most successful job interviews require extensive research on different matters. Experts say that the primary subject to look for is the company itself. Try to delve more facts about the company before you head for your job interview. Know more about the company profile, the kind of job that you are applying to, and the requirements needed to pass the interview. Keep in mind that one of the most common questions in every job interview is based on the reasons why you are applying for the job in the first place. So it is important that you know a little something about the company. This will support your reasons in some way. 2. Dress to kill Mark Twain has always been right about his belief that clothes create the man. So it is not enough that you look good on your job interview. You should follow the company’s dress code. If it is all coat and tie, then be it. As they say, you should always dress to impress. Leave the expression on the fashion scene. 3. Highlight your achievements Keep in mind that job interviews are conducted by employers to get a good and clear view of your strengths and weakness as a future employee. It will definitely cost them some money just to hire you. Hence, they would like to know if you are appropriate for the job. Try to highlight your achievements without having to sound arrogant. Better yet, create some conceptualize your achievements into remarkable stories and delve more on the abstracts. This means that you have to emphasize more on the qualities that most employers are looking for like leadership, reliability, etc. 4. Prepare some clever questions These questions do not have to sound highly technical or hypothetical. It is enough that you create some questions such as asking for some additional information about the company. This will give you an overview of what the company really needs. Keep in mind that most employers will not delve so much on your profile but more on what they need and how you can do something about it. 5. Try not to divulge everything Being honest could be the number one factor any employer would like to see in his future employee. However, it would be better to reserve this when you are already hired. This means that you have to keep a little secret about your capacity and limitations. Doing this could only mean one thing - losing the job. And lastly, try to relax. Sleep early and eat light meals. This will keep your stomach from churning the next morning. Bear in mind that the best preparation that you can make with your job interviews is to be yourself. The key to successful job interviews is based on how you have handled yourself as naturally as possible. Translation Service Companies: Finding Free Help Online

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

By Fred Zacharias The internet doesn’t just bridge the people living in a country, but global denizens of the world. Ironically enough the biggest barrier to us all getting together and just shooting the breeze are language barriers. Hence, bilingual individuals serve as the conduit that allows people of various backgrounds, nationalities, and cultures collaborate and communicate. With all the potential benefits, it would be wise to find these “conduits” so that they may reveal new worlds that were previously unbeknownst to us. Here are some ideas you can apply to find free help online: 1. Free Online Translation Software: there are many reputable online services that provide specific translation from language to another. The easiest thing to do is go to a search engine and type in something like “English to Chinese Translation”. Based on this model, you are almost assured of finding a free service to handle your most basic needs. 2. Online Forums and Newsgroups: Forums and online communities offer like-minded individuals a podium from which to communicate as well as to be heard on issues that they are interested in. Sames with those with language related interests including translation. Forums are a good source to find leads to worthy translation companies. 3. You can always visit classified sites to find individuals who offer translation services. Perhaps there you will find bartering arrangements, or you can trade language training with each other if there’s a match. Foreign language translation associated products and services are found at the author’s website. http://www.translationserviceguide.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Fred_Zacharias http://EzineArticles.com/?Translation-Service-Companies:-Finding-Free-Help-Online&id=252465 rx pharmacy phentermine purchase phentermine 37.5 prescription phentermine 37.5 phentermine online without perscription

Bridal Shower Gift Ideas and Bridal Shower Favors

Monday, April 14th, 2008

By Shirley Tan Once upon a time, a girl decided to marry a poor miller. Her father was so upset by this that he refused to give her a dowry. So her friends got together and gave her everything that she would need to set up her home. Thus was born the tradition of the bridal shower. Bridal showers have been around for ages. Like in the legend, the original purpose of a bridal shower was to give the bride gifts for her new home. Nowadays, most brides already have their own homes even before they get married so perhaps the original rationale for a bridal shower doesnt hold up quite so well. But a bridal shower is still a great excuse for the bride and those near and dear to her to get together and party. Here are some bridal shower ideas that are guaranteed to give a cool new twist to an old tradition: Have a bridal shower theme: Theres nothing like a well-chosen theme to make a bridal shower celebration unique and memorable. A theme also gives the event some structure and provides ideas for the decorations and entertainment. For instance, you could have a Four Seasons Shower and ask each guest to bring a gift that the bride could do with during a particular season. Another popular bridal shower idea is the Celebrations theme. The guests bring gifts that are linked to a particular festival. For a more unique bridal shower, pick a theme that reflects either the brides or grooms interests or situation. For instance, if you know that the couple are going to be entertaining a lot, have Great Parties as a theme with guests bringing gifts that will make entertaining a lot easier. If the couple loves to cook, pick a theme centered around food and ask the guests to bring a favorite recipe of theirs along with a difficult to find (and non-perishable!) ingredient. If the bride is moving away from the place where she used to live, then a Memories theme would be perfect. Each guest could bring something that he or she feels will remind the bride most of him or her. Have a Bridal Shower Keepsake book: The book has various sections like Wishes, Favorite memory of the Bride and Advice for a Bride-to-be (add any more that you can think of). Each guest fills in an entry in each of the sections. After the bridal shower is over, add on snaps of the event. Is there a better way to preserve memories of a bridal shower for ever?! Make a photo collage: Ask each guest to bring a photo of themselves with the bride to the bridal shower. Put the collage together and get it laminated and framed after the party. We guarantee that the bride will love the idea! Think up a new game: Typical bridal shower games like charades and word scrambles can get a bit dull after sometime, so a new game can be a great bridal shower idea. For instance, why not design a quiz about the bride? Alternatively, each guest gets to ask the bride one question that the bride has to answer truthfully. Stage a musical: Put together an act with dialogues and popular songs that gently spoof the brides life so far. This one is guaranteed to bring the house down! Remember that when it comes to bridal showers, tradition can only get you so far. With these great bridal shower ideas and your imagination, the sky is the limit. Planning a Golden Oldies Party

Friday, April 11th, 2008

By Gail Leino Before you make any real preparations for your Golden Oldies Party, you need to think of the era that you wish to use. Even though you want to plan the party based on the post-1950s with the music, dress, and events that transpired during that era, you may choose to zero in on a more specific decade. After all, if most of the guests were not born until the 1950s, they will not have a clue about the events of the 1950s except what they have read or heard. Think of the era in which most of your guests were teenagers or older and base your party around that decade. How do you plan a Golden Oldies Party if all of your guests are from a different era? A fun thought might be to allow your guests to come dressed as they did growing up in that decade of rock and roll and partying. If you have several guests, it can make for an exciting party with music and costumes from several decades. Encourage your guests to share events they remember as teenagers: dances, school, shopping, clothes, activities, games, television shows, etc. Not only will your party be fun, it will allow all of the guests to share some trivia from their past and give younger guests an opportunity to take a walk into another decade if only for a moment. No matter what decade you choose for your Golden Oldies party, rest assured that you will certainly entertain your guests. Nothing is more eventful that a party that lets guests go back into the past for just a few hours and relive their carefree years in high school and college. Those days are in the past, but a party can bring them back into focus for just a few hours and give everyone a taste of the Golden Oldies decades. Address Stamp Collecting - A Sticky Hobby?

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

By Thomas B Stevenson Do you ever notice the picture on the address stamp? It is astounding to see just how many different kinds of address stamp pictures are seen on envelopes throughout the world. From famous presidents to regular members of the Disney World crew, there are many different pictures and icons that are featured on an address stamp. When we take a minute to reflect on some of the images we see on these stamps, it is easy to see that even these small little sticky pieces of paper mean more than the cents they are worth. In other words, there can be some value of memory or meaning behind an address stamp for some consumers. Many people collect stamps because of this - the meaning behind some of them. The age-old hobby of collecting stamps can be a passion, or something that started when someone found one that had some kind of momentous value to it. After all, this type of value will certainly give enough rationale for anyone to hold on to it. Collecting stamps can serve as a means to relax, to reflect, to play or more simply a time of redemption. It is amazing to think about the ways a simple address stamp can exert a positive impact on someones life, and not just because he or she gets an all important letter in the mail either. The bottom line is that collecting address stamps may not be for everyone, but it sure should not be ruled out as a great hobby to take part in when it comes to embracing part of our American culture, or our Worlds culture for that matter. Equivalent to paintings or portraits, address stamps attempt to preserve past lives or highlight current trends within a tiny piece of art, and what better way to keep and share the art than by collecting as many pieces as you can and putting them in a book of some kind. Many people who really could not care less about what is printed on an address stamp might think collecting them is simply a waste of their precious time, and for some people it just might be. But in reality when some people enjoy the beauty of what is printed on an address stamp, and the value of some of these stamps may just make them rich one day, there does not seem to be a time wasting element here. The hobby offers a lot to people who are interested in it. The more you devote to it, the more pleasure you reap from it. http://The-Arts-Magazine.com provides readers with the latest reviews, articles, commentaries and write-ups on all arts, theater, music, films and related topics.
