Xenical - adding Weight to Weightloss

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

By Aahanaa Gibz Obesity is a growing concern among teens throughout the US. With the prevalent couch potato culture and depleting level of physical exercises owing to high level of automation, the problems seem to be just escalating. There are many weight loss techniques available in the market right from a dietary plan to minor fat suction surgeries. The most common being weight loss pills. Xenical is one such prescription medication (pill) that considerably helps over weight people lose fat and keep it away. When you eat fat it is broken into the simplest components that facilitate easy digestion, while the excess fatty food it is stored in your body resulting in weight gain. Xenical works in your digestive system to block about one third of the fat in the food you eat from being digested. Enzymes in your digestive system called Lipases help break down fats and help digesting them. When taken with food, Xenical attaches to the Lipases and blocks them from breaking down some of the fat you have eaten. Thus one third of the fat you have consumed goes undigested and is passed out of your body through bowel movements. Like the other weight loss Xenical may also trigger moderate side effects like increased need to open bowels, fatty bowels, oily discharges. Generally these are seen in the initial phase when you use Xenical and subdue with usage. Though there is no such restriction on the food, but eating less fatty foods should only help you speed the weight loss process. You can consume a variety of multi vitamins when you are consuming Xenical. This helps as Xenical interferes with the absorption of some fat vitamins so additional supplements of vitamins should only help. But, it is very important that you speak to your doctor about the various medications or herbals products you are consuming before starting Xenical. Xenical should be taken after your meals and can be taken up to 1 hour later. If you forget your pill please resume by consuming it with your next meal. Though no major side effects have been encountered on event of an overdose, but it is recommended that you consume it as prescribed by your physician. Generally Xenical begins to show results within 2 weeks from the beginning of the course. However, it is necessary that you stick to the prescribed program. If you feel you havent lost enough weight or no weight in 2 weeks then please consult your physician as the dose alteration may be required. A Light Hearted Look At Family Tree Research

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

By Stevie Jay-Jones What a rewarding hobby it can be to research your family tree. You have your starting point with your grand parents who unfortunately are no longer with us, but you feel sure your family would love to discover their heritage. However, for some reason your mother seems reluctant to discuss the family. Strange? Perhaps, but you put it down to the fact your mother is 70 now and a little too old for new tricks and technology. You manage, after some time and money, to track dear old Granny and Grandpa down to where they were born and where they lived in the 1901 census. Edinburgh? Well I never knew that, you think. And so you decide to push back a little further and see what your great grandparents were all about. Still your mother has only vague recollections and cannot add anything to your research. That is okay though, we have records and technology to help us along. Hurrah! I’ve found my great grandmother! She went by the name of Isabella and was born a McDonald in 1864. She then married my great grandfather, John Graham in 1887. Well that all seems in order, he was a railway clerk which doesn’t sound too impressive but that’s okay it could be worse. And yes, it sure could be worse. You notice something very odd about the marriage entry in the register. Isabella has two parents but poor old John only had a mother. Must be a clerical error or perhaps his father had died? He should still have been on the certificate though. So off you go to see your mother and explain this strange occurrence. She seems flustered and assures you that you shouldn’t waste your valuable time on the past. I start to smell a rat at this point and hot foot it home to log onto my pc. I find John’s birth entry in 1862. Oops, there is no father on there either. And what is that large capital “B” in the margin? The penny drops. No wonder why my mother was so cagey. I guess it was a big disgrace in those days but seems too commonplace these days to worry about. Anyway, so my great grandfather John was born out of wedlock. I took great delight in joking with my mother about it and it was the topic of the Christmas dinner table! Since then I’ve found a bigamist, 3 more illegitimate and a suicide! Think I’ll save those for the Easter dinner table…. This light hearted look at family tree research is based on real events. Find out all about researching your tree at Scottish Ancestry.Org. The Low GI Diet Plan

Monday, August 27th, 2007

By Balajiee Sampath The low GI diet plan has soared in popularity over the last year. It seems that everyone is talking about low glycemic foods and replacing white carbs with healthier whole grains. The basis of the Low GI diet plan is that you should eat the good for you carbs and whole grains such as whole wheat, seed and granary breads. You are also advised to avoid high GI foods including potatoes (with the exception of baby potatoes) and rice. There are also a few surprises on the diet such as you cant eat pineapple or bananas because they rate high on the glycemic index. There are also a few pleasant surprises such as being able to eat white pasta. Pasta seems to be one of the white carbs which doesnt have a high GI level. The plan is based around the believe that high glycemic index foods raise the insulin levels in the body too rapidly and if you eat many of these high GI foods you will not only gain weight but feel unhealthy overall. The diet claims to not only help you loose weight by reducing your cravings for sweet foods but also to balance your sugar levels so that you have higher energy throughout the day and no afternoon slumps. It is also believed eating a low GI diet will help with many health related illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes and even certain types of cancers. There is also an added bonus that your skin should look younger and be less prone to acne by eating low GI foods. The plan doesnt really follow any phases but you are advised to watch your calorie intake if your purpose is to loose weight. Many healthy low GI foods are very calorific. You are also warned to stay away from caffeine and alcohol, with the exception of red wine which is okay in moderation once your insulin levels are under control. Fish Finder Features - What Do You Really Need

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

By Sandra Anness The fish finder features you choose are extremely important to the enjoyment you get from your purchase. It doesn’t matter whether you are a novice once-a-year fisherman or a professional angler, finding those fish down below can be a frustrating experience. You know they’re down there if only you could see underwater! Well, you can! A fish finder can give you that little extra advantage. Choosing the right fish finder features can enable it to tell you the depth of the water, location of a single fish or schools of fish, bottom composition (soft, rocky, weedy), thermoclines (difference in water temperature), structures in the water (wrecks, stumps, drop-offs), surface water temperature, and location. It can even help you find your way home! Depending on the fish finder features you choose, you will find a model to fit any budget from under $100 to over $2,000. 1-Display Screen Monochrome or color Color is great but if cost is a concern, the color does not affect the accuracy. Screen size the wider the screen the larger the viewing area Clarity the number of pixels directly affects the sharpness and clarity of the display; the more pixels, the sharper the images will be Backlit display allows viewing after dark Symbols fish, number and type Water temperature sensors on screen display for surface and underwater changes Audible/visual alarms for bottom fish or water temperature changes Example: Furuno FCV582-LDepth Control Gain (DCG) for detailed images of structures and bottom densities Example: Garmin GPSMAP178 2-Mounting Portable or Fixed-mount Portable units are entirely self-contained and usually include a carrying case and suction cup transducer hardware. Example: Eagle Fishmark 320 If fixed-mount you will usually attach the transducer to the to the transom of your boat. If you have a single hulled fiberglass boat, you can usually mount it to the inside bottom of your boat. This is known as shooting through the hull mounting. 3-Dual or Single Frequency Transponder Dual frequency has both 50KHZ and 200KHZ sonar and is used for very deep water or salt water. It will penetrate better in the dense salt water and give a better signal in water over 200 feet deep. Single frequency uses only the 200KHZ; used in inland lakes and fresh water and under 200 feet depth. Example: Lowrance X67C Target definition is actually better with the higher frequency but if you plan to do both fresh and salt water fishing & both shallow and deeper fishing you’re better off to get the dual frequency. 4-Temperature gauge Water temperature greatly affects the behavior of fish. Fish are cold blooded and assume the temperature of the water around them. In lakes, there are warm layers of water and cooler layers. Where these layers meet are called thermoclines. Many times bait fish prefer the areas above the thermoclines while the larger game fish prefer in or just below it. This difference in thermoclines can be seen on the fish finder display screen. The greater the temperature difference, the denser the thermocline shows on the screen. Example: Navman F4500 5-GPS option - Global Positioning System Your need for the GPS option will depend on where you fish. If you often fish in unfamiliar locations, gps is a great security feature. It maps out your waypoints so you’ll always get back to camp, even at night in the dark or around complicated structures and islands. GPS combo units also mark your hot fishing spots so you can come right back to the very same spot a year later. For example, if you fish the same tournaments every year you can mark the best spots and not waste crucial serious fishing time. Whichever fish finder you choose, this is a great marine electronic device that will make your fishing trips even more enjoyable and successful. Myths & Misconceptions of the Professional Wedding Planner

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

By Jean Neuhart Medusa, the Loch Ness Monster, Big Foot, Jennifer Lopez as The Wedding Planner . . . What do these things have in common? Theyre all MYTHS! While being a myth doesnt keep people from seeking some of these out (well, maybe not Medusa . . . ) they often prevent couples from seeking out the assistance of a professional wedding planner. To help clarify and debunk some of these, here is a list of some of the more common misconceptions (and truths) of professional wedding planners (PWPs), aka wedding consultants, wedding coordinators, and bridal consultants. Consultants are expensive and only for the rich and famous.Like most people, much of what you know about a PWP is what you see on TV, the movies, and in magazines. Lavish celebrity weddings raise ratings and sell more copies but they are not the stuff of everyday real-life weddings. And the people who produce these weddings (Colin Cowie, Preston Bailey . . .) provide a very different service than your local PWP. The local PWP understands whats in their region — current trends, and all the great local vendors and resources. Also, most PWPs offer different levels of service, from basic hour-long sessions to full-service coordination and design, so you should be able to find something in your price range quite easily. My caterer also does wedding planning. Why not just use them to plan mine?A caterers (or florists, or djs, etc.) main job is to provide the service they are specifically trained and experienced in. While they are busy providing their service on a wedding day, how are they going to take care of any the other behind-the-scenes things? They just cant be in two places at once. Ive just booked my reception venue and they have a list of preferred vendors. Why should I pay someone for the same information?Because a PWP doesnt give the same information. The preferred vendor list provided by venues, caterers, etc. are often vendors who have paid to be on that list, and is not an indication of their style, pricing, availability, nor reputation. This very same list is given to all of the venues clients. On the other hand, the list of vendors provided by a PWP is tailored specifically for each bride & groom. You have your own specific style and desires, as well as budget, that you want for your wedding day. Wouldnt you rather have a list of available vendors that you know specialize in your desired style, and fit your budget? But I dont want someone to plan my wedding they way they think it should be.A PWP will take the time to find out exactly what you and your fianc want out of your wedding, how you envision your wedding day, how much you have and want to spend, and what your priorities are for your wedding. She will also take the time to get to know YOU. By doing so, then she can make referrals and suggestions based on your unique desires and dreams for your wedding day, and NOT some preconceived notion of what a wedding should be. She will help you plan your wedding the way YOU want it to be, not the way she thinks it should be, or (worse yet!) the way its always been done? Dont consultants take kickbacks from the vendors they refer?Absolutely not! It is unethical to accept kickbacks, finders fees, or whatever you want to call them. A PWPs main focus is on you, the bride and groom. She is looking out for your best interest, not her own, nor any other vendors. The ONLY exception is if the PWPs fees will be paid by the vendors and not by the client. Wont a consultant want to run the whole show?A PWP will work with you, handling as much or as little of your wedding as you want. After all, it is your wedding. The PWP is there to help you and your family make the day perfect. If you want her to, the PWP will run the whole show, but it is your show that she is running. Our church has a wedding coordinator. Why do I need someone else? The person at the church is usually only familiar with his/her aspect of the wedding — getting the bride down the aisle on time — not the complete planning process, and is primarily concerned with making sure the rules of their church are followed. Dont assume the church coordinator will help with any set-up, assist you and your bridal party while youre getting dressed, pass out and pin on boutonnieres and corsages, make sure everything and everyone is in place, or be able to fix any behind-the-scenes problems that may arise. I can find vendors straight out of the yellow pages. Why pay someone to do this for me?You can pick names from the yellow pages yourself. However, this is no indication of their style, price ranges, availability, or if the vendor is even reputable. Referrals provided by a PWP are not pulled out of the yellow pages, but from a data base of pre-qualified, reputable vendors who match a specific set of criteria that fits your wedding vision and budget. My friend (or sister) just got married, and her wedding was great. Why cant I use the same vendors?Of course you can use the same vendors, but do you really want to have your wedding just like someone else’s? My mom is helping me. Why hire someone when we can do it all?Using the services of a PWP does not prevent you and/or your mom from doing it all. Instead, with her training, experience and expertise, the PWP is on hand to assist and guide you through the entire wedding process, offering suitable suggestions and quickly remedying any problems, so no one ends up too stressed and too tired to enjoy the big day when it finally arrives. Wouldnt you rather look forward to and enjoy your wedding day than get so stressed out that you cant wait for it to be over with? Jean Neuhart is the owner of Weddings From The Heart . Three Bulbs for Fall Bloom

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

By Doug Green Here are three fall blooming bulbs to try in your garden. If you have a protected area in your garden where the ground doesnt go below -18C, you might well want to try growing some of the hardier Cyclamen bulbs. The trick with growing these bulbs is that they want almost perfect drainage and protection from the hot blazing sun. Try C. coum, C. purpurescens and C. hederifolium. The major differences are C. purpurescens is a woodland plant and wants shade and moist, rich soils. It will also continue to grow during the summer while the C. coum and C. hederifolium will likely go dormant in the summer heat to reappear in the fall when they bloom with their delightful small flowers. All thrive under the shade of trees or shrubs. Colchicum are also called autumn crocus and even more descriptive, naked ladies, and are a fine fall blooming bulb. These are alpine plants, flowering at the snow-melt line in alpine meadows and rocky outcrops they deman perfect drainage with no extra summer water. The only problem with them is that they send up a flower in the fall and then develop leaves. In cold areas, the bulb may not get enough sunshine to replenish the bulb and it will die. This is a perfect plant for the rock garden but given they have quite a short flower stalk, they do not fit well into the general flower border. Lycoris, called naked lily, spider lily and even resurrection lily is an interesting tender fall blooming bulb. L. squamigera, is a tender bulb in USDA zone 6 but is can be dug in the fall and treated exactly as a glad bulb. This Chinese native produces leaves in the spring that fade away during the summer. The flowers appear in the fall without leaves and several stalks of rose-lavender to lavender pink flowers appear. At three-feet tall, this is an excellent plant for the perennial border. Dig and store cool and dry over winter in cold areas. More information on growing these fall blooming bulbs can be found at this website. Wonders of Bay ( External: Dandruff, sprains, atomic ulcers) - from a South African Perspective

Monday, August 20th, 2007

By Andrew Smit Bay, sweet Laurus nobilis Lauraceae family Language and mythology Laurus is Latin for ‘bay tree’; nobilis means ‘renowned.’ In early Greece and Rome, bay was associated with glory, honor, and reward. Bay is also commonly called laurel. Those victorious in battle and sports were crowned with a laurel wreath. Bay also had a legendary role in the love affair of Apollo and Daphne and was associated with romance. Description: This large, attractive tree is thickly covered with glossy, narrow dark-green leaves about 2 to 4 inches long and 1 inch wide. The thick, leathery leaves have wavy, somewhat variable margins. The greenish yellow flowers are without petals and not very ornamental. Pruning out the lower limbs and rounding the top creates an elegant appearance. The bark is shiny grey, and the fruit is a dark purple to black one-seeded berry about 1/2 inch long. Plant type and hardiness: Evergreen tree; hardiness zone 8. Plant type and Height and width Height averages up to 10 feet (wild plants may reach 23 feet); width varies. Light and soil Full sun to light shade; moderately rich, well drained soil with a pH of 6.2. Pests and disease: Susceptible to white wax scale, which makes the leaves sooty and unattractive and retards leaf growth. Cultivation: Bay trees make excellent tub specimens, especially if grown with the lower branches pruned off and the top rounded. Seeds are difficult to propagate, but cuttings can be successful when taken in the spring after the leaves have hardened. Keep cuttings watered at all times and plant in containers when rooted. Bay trees are slow growing, but after one year in pots they can be transplanted into the garden or a larger container. Companion planting: Growing bay near other plants is not a problem unless the tree gets too large and the roots take nourishment from nearby soil. Propagation method: Difficult to propagate from seeds or cuttings. Bloom time and color: March to May; greenish yellow. Harvesting: Bay leaves can be harvested and dried throughout the year. Early in the day, cut or pick individual older leaves as needed. To keep leaves from curling when drying, place them on boards with books on top. The leaves should be dry in about two weeks. Store in tightly sealed containers. Herbal uses Cosmetic, culinary, decorative, and medicinal: The fragrant oil is added to bath water to sooth the skin. Culinary use is mainly in soups, stews, and tomato sauces. Bay leaf also flavors shellfish boils, pickling brines, game meats, and herbal teas. Remember to remove bay leaf before serving. The tree itself is decorative when pruned into formal shapes. The branches can be used in fresh or dry herbal wreaths and to add fragrance to potpourris. Bay leaf is said to have some medicinal qualities. Internally for indigestion, poor appetite, colic, and flatulence. Externally Bay can be used to control dandruff, rheumatism, sprains, bruises, atomic ulcers, and scabies. Garden notes: Bay can be trained as a topiary tree. http://www.turtleherbestate.co.za where you will find Global solutions and ideas.Turtle Herb Estate Holdings consists of 3 forward thinking entrepreneurs with expertise in marketing & DTP advertising, farming culinary and medicinal herbs, web design and online marketing, horse breeding (sport horses),animal health products, import and export, engineering and industrial design (water solutions), arts and crafts. Wedding Loans: Spend Lavishly For That Great Day

Friday, August 17th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=David_Harve]David Harve Wedding loans help you meet your marriage expenses. Wedding loans enable you to make once in a life time day a memorable one by spending lavishly for the occasion that every one waits for. The increasing average cost of marriage in the UK is making wedding loans gain more popularity. A recent research from Alliance and Leicester, one of the UK’s major financial services group shows that almost one-in-five UK residents will need to borrow in order to meet their marriage expenses. The figures issued by the Bank shows that the cost of an average wedding is now more than 17,000, a rise of 13 per cent from 15,000 last year. The research also revealed that many Brits who are engaged were under-estimating the potential cost of the event by as much as 155 per cent. Many were under the wrong impression that their wedding will cost 6,650 on an average. So, make it sure that you have enough finance available to you before you decide to enter an altogether new phase in your life. Wedding loans can be secured or unsecured depending upon the fact that whether collateral is required or not when availing such loans. Secured wedding loans require collateral whereas unsecured wedding loans do not. Depending upon your individual requirement and circumstances, you can choose an appropriate wedding loan. If you need quick and small loan amount, you should go for unsecured wedding loans. On the other hand, a big loan requirement at low rate of interest can be taken care of by availing secured wedding loans. The Pope Says that Science and Religion are Compatible

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

By Lance Winslow The Pope has made a statement that religion and science are compatible, although history has not shown that to be the case in over 2000 years. If the Pope is serious then we must have some reassurances of this, otherwise move over because the we are in an era of discovery and the forward progression of mankind is moving forward with or without religions ability to keep up. If the large religions of the world do not start now and modify themselves at a faster rate, they will soon lose the faith of their followers as their doctrines fail to correspond to the actual observations of researchers and scientists as we move forward. In the days of Copernicus it may have been easy to keep some population bases in the dark by refusing to listen to reason. But this is a different era, one filled with rapid-fire communication, where each discovery is spread worldwide within hours of its findings. Who knows the Pope maybe right, maybe they can pull this off and keep their religion in tact; but it will take a new strategic plan and a dumping of any literal interpretation of their literary works. The dog and pony show of Pope Mobiles and B-Movie wardrobes and gowns with fancy ceremonies and holly Nabisco crackers, well that simply is not going to cut it on the road ahead. So, dear Pope, you will need to walk the talk otherwise, you will be selling all that real estate and stolen art from years gone by to pay the costs of the Catholic Church. Consider all this in 2006. “Lance Winslow” - Online Think Tank forum board.
